Dr. Suwit Yodmanee, Minister of Tourism and Sports Ministry
recently presided over the opening ceremony of the '10th Amari Watergate
Hotel & BMW Group Thailand Midnight Run' organised by the Amari
Watergate Hotel in honour of H.M. the King's 80th birthday celebrations.
The atmosphere was tremendous, with an astounding 3,300 runners this year,
both local and foreign.
The proceeds will be donated firstly to
Chalerm Prakiat School in Lampoon province, which supports the education of children
whose parents have very tragically passed away due to HIV infection
and the second beneficiary will be Baan Gerda in Lopburi province to
support HIV-infected orphans children.Donations amounted to 3.35million Baht
Everyone who crossed the finishing line received a
special commemorative medal, sporting the symbol to mark the celebrations
of the 80th birthday for H.M. the King. The winners of the race, from 11
different categories, were announced amid joyous celebrations. Click here

The race after-party was held at Henry J. Bean's Bar & Grill
in the Amari Watergate Hotel, with a raffle for many prizes, such as
round-trip air-tickets, eg BKK.-Brunei, BKK.-Bahrain, BKK.-Shenzhen,
BKK.-Hong Kong, BKK.-Yangon and BKK.-Chiang Mai, and luxurious watches,
etc.
This annual sporting charity event is scheduled next
year for 11th October 2008 and more information will follow
soon.
