Other Interesting Stuff for Kids
Dressed to Kill
The department stores have a fabulous selection of
clothes for little ones from the Disney and Pooh ranges through to Baby
Shelter, whose clothes look a little bit like those from Gap. Also the
children’s ranges of branded sports gear such a Nike and Addidas are
exceptionally good value. There is an Addidas shop between Sukhumvit Soi 3
and Soi 5
and at the night market in Patpong (actually the "real" goods
are not much more expensive than the "fake" items sold at the stalls so it
is definitely worth checking out the real
thingfirst).
Also try Ri-Tah-Rae, which
has gear for babies and young children and is located at the entrance to Sukhumvit Soi
53. They can also custom make fancy costumes so you can plan ahead for
next year’s birthday or haloween party. Tel: 02-259-0034

addition you can get some great bargins at the
markets for play clothes and beach clothes and at very reasonable prices. Get a copy
of the Nancy Chandler Map (available from any good bookstore in Thailand
or email nancychandler@yahoo.com for mail order) to help you pin point the
cool places to shop for kiddie clothes in Bangkok.
If you are buying stuff from markets then make sure it is
thoroughly washed before the child puts it on. For cheaper clothes the chemical dies
which they use are very strong and can irritate the skin causing a
rash.
- Pratunam Market , just behind the Amari Watergate Hotel, this
wholesale market has loads of cheap outfits which are good for playing
in.
- Soi Lai Lai Sap Market in Silom (behind The Bangkok Bank)
- Chatuchak Weekend Market - use the skytrain and get off at
