Wang Num Ping
Chao Surai Sukrachun, the daughter of Chao Shuen and Chao Surichai
Sirorasa, descendants of the royal family of Chiang Mai, has always held
the arts and culture of Thailand close to her heart. This lifelong passion
shows in the elegance of her dress, her balanced attitude to life and
finds the ultimate expression in the peaceful sanctuary of her riverside
home, Wang Num Ping.
The beautiful teakwood structure stands as noble testimony to the
aesthetic simplicity but exquisitely detailed composition of Lanna
architecture. Imposing and memorable, it occupies a spacious garden on the
banks of the Ping River, and blends with its verdant natural surroundings
in perfect harmony.
Mr. Chulatat Kittibut, the talented architect who
designed the building, was awarded the 1984 Single House Citation Award by
the Siam Architecture Society under Royal Patronage, on the occasion of
its 50 years cycle.
Since it was completed in 1982, this splendid
building has attracted many distinguished visitors. It had the great

Taylor, who visited here in 1992.
